Abstract

This paper examines energy transitions in South Asia with a focus on China’s recent policy shifts that claim to “green the BRI”. This brief examines three particular aspects of energy transition through the BRI in this region - the phase-out policy of existing coal projects, investing in renewables, and financial reform in BRI investments and contracts.
