C3S Issue Brief: 003/2019

C3S launches its Issue Brief initiative. An issue briefs is a summary of the knowledge surrounding an issue or a problem. It summarises the issue giving clear, concise and complete information describing all facets of a particular issue including a detailed illustration in the form of images, data, and facts. It also includes recommendations for action and predictions on the future course of an issue.

‘0h, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet’ wrote Rudyard Kipling in his poem “The Ballard of East and West”. 

The objective of this Issue Brief is to elucidate the significance of India’s North Eastern Region to Act East Policy and larger integration of the South Asian Region. Does India’s vision Indo – Pacific complement its larger ambitions? A contrast with China and policy prescriptions for India is made.
