Obituary
The Chennai Centre for China Studies (CCCS) deeply regrets to convey the passing away of its Vice-Presidnet Mr R Swaminthan, IPS (Retd) at New Delhi early this morning. He was a founding member of the CCCS as well as President of the International Institute of Security and Safety Management, New Delhi. He was a China specialist, having served the Government of India for long years and retired in 1990 as Special Secretary and Director General(Security), Cabinet Secretariat. He was closely associated with many think-tanks and discussion groups in India and was an active participant in many national and international seminars. He authored many publications dealing with different issues relating to national security and foreign policies, with special reference to China , India and Sri Lanka.
We in the CCCS will deeply miss Mr Swaminathan. May his soul rest in peace.
