Aim of the study
The aim of this article is to examine the evolution of China's Financial Sovereignty and Economic Statecraft as one of the most significant yet least understood pillars of comprehensive national power in the contemporary era. The study seeks to analyse how China has, over the past four decades, systematically built a resilient financial ecosystem through sustained industrialisation, export-led growth, banking reforms, investment architecture, infrastructure development, trade competitiveness, technological advancement, institutional continuity and disciplined national execution, thereby transforming itself into one of the world's foremost financial and economic powers.
The article further aims to examine how financial sovereignty extends well beyond the domains of banking, monetary policy and fiscal management, and increasingly functions as a strategic enabler of industrial growth, scientific progress, technological innovation, military preparedness, global economic influence and long-term national resilience. It seeks to demonstrate that economic statecraft has emerged as one of the principal instruments through which nations create, sustain and project comprehensive national capability.
Most importantly, this paper endeavours to derive objective strategic insights for India by examining the broader principles underlying China's financial transformation. It seeks to encourage informed national reflection on strengthening India's economic growth and sovereignty, financial progression and resilience, industrial competitiveness, export capability, investment ecosystems and global economic standing, while remaining firmly rooted in India's democratic institutions, constitutional framework and civilizational values. The overarching purpose is not to advocate replication, but to promote strategic understanding, thoughtful adaptation and long-term national capability creation through objective and evidence-based analysis.
"Economic statecraft transforms financial strength into national strength, and financial sovereignty into strategic autonomy."
